Our story didn't start in a boardroom; it began in a garage with our founder, Jay Johnson, and his 1940 Ford sedan. While deep into the restoration, Jay hit a frustrating wall—he couldn't find quality 12-volt conversion parts or the clear instructions needed to make them work.

Driven by necessity, he partnered with Nathan Grohn, a gifted electrical designer. Together, they engineered the solution: a reliable 12-to-6 volt voltage reducer that allowed the Ford’s original 6-volt oil, gas, and temperature gauges to work flawlessly in a 12-volt system.

That single, crucial part—born from the perfect partnership of a classic restorer and a skilled designer—became the foundation of Vintage Auto Garage.

Today, we honor that origin in every complete, easy-to-use kit we design and build. We were founded to solve a problem, and our mission remains the same: to ensure you spend less time facing frustration and more time enjoying the drive.
