Note: cars keeping the orignal 6 volt starter add the 12 volt solenoid and plunger to convert the starter solenoid to 12 volts. Or select the new starter, customers find the new starter a better starter option and saves install time.

  • 12 volt negative ground 100 amp 60 amps idle output CS121 alternator with integrated mounting hardware
  • 2 wire connection excite plug
  •  3/4" pulley fits 5/8" belts (the small diameter with turn alternator faster at idle)

  • Ignition coil (1.5 ohm coil works on points or electronic ignition)

The reliable Delco CS121 alternator produces 12  volts with up to 100 amps at speed, upto 60 amps at idle. The alternator has an integrated aluminum mounting ring that will fit in the same location as the original generator with similar belt adjustment feature. (A long or shorter belt may be needed). The pulley will fit both 5/8" and 3/4" belts, the small diameter pulley turns the alternator faster for better idle output.

These parts will allow the conversion of the vehicle from positive to negative ground which is simply reversing the battery cables.

The kit comes with  1.5 ohm coil which will work on the original points distributor or add the optional Pertronix 1183 ignitor
and turn the distributor to electronic ignition.

    great product

Three washers on each side of the alternator, along with the provided spacers, took care of a small misalignment. The misalignment was about 1/4”. That was the only issue I had with the kit. The alternator provided significantly more power than the original generator. On a 30 minute test drive, when you called, everything that could be on was ( lights, heater and defroster fans) and it provided plenty of power on highway and stop and go traffic. Just a slight discharge was observed stopped in traffic with the brake lights added to the above load. It performs as I had hoped and we’ll put some miles on it over the next few weeks. Thank you very much for your calls and support during the installation.

great to have companies that do these kits

Posted by Charlies on Jan 16th 2021

I started on the Caddy today. I've installed the alternator, starter solenoid ( I had to elongate the mounting holes, no problem) and the coil. So far, so good. I'm going to start on wiring next. I'm glad there are companies like yours that help make these old cars more drivable and dependable.
