Late (September1947)-1951 Ford Flathead Six Cylinder H Series 12V Conversion Kit.
Included in this conversion kit: 12 volt 100 amp alterantor, Ignition Coil with coil bracket, Headlight Relay, Horn Relay, Oil Gas Temp Gauge Regulator (allows use of original 6v gauge sending units), Start Solenoid 10 AWG alternator to battery connection wire,125 amp alternator output fuse, and turn signal flasher. The electronic igntion module 1266 for Load O Matic distributor is available as option.
Note: Select the correct size pulley for the belt on your car or truck.
1948-1951 trucks used 5/8"pulley to fit the wide belt.
1948-1950 cars used the same 5/8" pulley.
1951 Cars used the narrow 3/8" belt.
Note: The rear mounting of the alternator has been modified to accept the special designed mounting bracket.
The H series engine is easily distinguished from the G Series by distributor location....the new Load-a-matic distributor on H series engines is mounted on the driver side of the cylinder block near the middle of the engine. the distributor on the G series engines is mounted on the front of engine driven off the front of the cam shaft.
In late September 1947 Ford changed the six cylinder engine to the H Series which had the same bore/stroke and displacement of the earlier G Series engine from 1941 to 1947. The newer engine had slightly higher compression and the new "Loadamatic" type distributor. 1951 was the last production year for the flathead six as Ford introduced the new over-head valve six for 1952. Other changes include larger main bearing journals, new rotor type oil pump, newer Holley carburetor (8HA-9510-A), new water pump, and one-piece valve guides. In early 1950 the camshaft was changed. Otherwise, the basic engine remained similar to the G Series design of '41 to '47. The block and head were of cast iron with the valves located in the block. The newer version gained 5hp over the G Series.
The engine is easily distinguished from the G Series by distributor location....the new Loadamatic distributor is mounted to the left side of the cylinder block near the middle of the engine.

My 1949 Ford flathead 6 was hard to start and un-reliable, bought this kit and it was delivered fast, the alternator bracket is very high quality and all the parts fit perfectly, had problems wiring up my truck, called VAG and they helped me with every question til it was running. recommend this kit and this company!!
